Inquiry (采购产品): Indestructible Barcode Labels Hello I'm a data analyst at the Maryland Transit Administration. We have a requirement to track wheel hub units used on city buses. We're considering barcode adhesive labels that would be stuck on the aluminum hubs. These labels would be exposed to salt, dirt, water, and abrasion for up to a year of daily use before the hub would be refurbished and a fresh label would be printed and applied. What do you recommend for such an application, in terms of labels, printers, scanners, software? The cycle would be as follows: A hub would start out new, with a barcode to match a serial number stamped on the hub. Brake wear is examined regularly and when the need for a brake job is indicated (anticipate 6-12 months), the hub would be removed. The hub would go into a refurbishment cycle (cleaning, sandblasting, polishing, etc.). At some point in that cycle a fresh barcode would need to be generated and applied. That hub becomes part of a rotating inventory and eventually will be reinstalled on another bus undergoing a brake job. The purpose of the tracking is so that mechanics will know when a hub has already gone through two refurbishments so it can be scrapped rather than scheduled for a third. The fleet has roughly 800 buses, 2 brake jobs per year, 4 to 6 hubs per bus.
