Growth of Galvanized coating due to diferent amount of silic
Inquiry (采购产品): Growth of Galvanized coating due to diferent amount of silicon in weld than in metal I need an unbiased opinion on some gates we have had fabricated and HOt Dipped Galvanized. The specifications requried that the gates be fabricated and the welds ground smooth prior to Hot Dip Galvanizing and Painting. When the Gates arrived the welds appeared to have never been ground smooth. They looked as though they were welded with a stick welder, the flux removed and then painted over. The fabricator is saying that he ground the gate smooth and that becasuse of dissimular amounts of silicon in the rod VS the steel caused the galvanizing to grow more over the weld than the base steel. If this is true I would think there could be a slight raise in the galvanizing but the gates look as though thy still had weld splatters on the steel and the welds look just like a weld with a stick rod with the typical waves. I can send a picture of the completed welds in question if you provide me an e-mail address. Thanks for you help Kenneth L.
