Inquiry (采购产品): Hard Plating of Dies Good morning gentlemen. I have a need to plate small swaging dies for use in resizing brass cartridge cases. The dies are usually machined from tool steel or in some cases, 416 stainless steel. I have also considered the use of 7075 T-6 aluminum. The requirement is for a very hard, slick surface in the bore of the die. The dies are outside threaded 7/8-14, and about three to four inches in length; the bores are approximately .4410 and 1.500 inches deep. I considered the use of titanium nitride coating, but was told by a company that speacializes in that process that it is not possible to coat a bore greater than one diameter in depth. With hard chrome plating, I assume the coating would be uniform throughout the part. I have also been told that hard chrome leaves a rough finish on the part and that if one desires a smooth slick finish, it must be polished; is this true? Thanks in advance for your help. G. E.
