Ballistic and EMI Shielded Electrical Conduit Inquiry (采购产品): Ballistic and EMI Shielded Electrical Conduit Hello- Although our company normally doesn’t provide this type of product, we have a material (I have performance videos) that may be of interest to you. It is ballistic and Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) shielded protective electrical conduit. In traditional EMI suppression requirements, new air platforms are becoming noisier with added electronic features and system survivability and signal protection is critical in an already aging airfleet. Untapped sales opportunities are also available in hardening commercial and military aircraft from asymmetric warfare ballistic threats. Given the technical progress and the state of the art, considerable development time has been already eliminated. Following qualification, the innovation could be offered as a safety related product and a company already in the field (such as yours) could jump start marketing efforts. Ballistic and EMI protective conduit is a timely innovation with a solid technical base and a track record of effectiveness. I have extensive familiarity with the precursor to this product and understand the value of the advances in the state of the art. The material in question is a significant improvement over an invention I worked on while at Ford. I modified a very tough cross linked polymer (used on outdoor power lines and in deep pit mining) by overmolding tubes of Kevlar. In that form, the protective coating was abrasion proof and had significant crush resistance. It was very flexible (important for automotive assembly in tight spaces), was assembled with Kevlar inserts (and did have some ballistic resistance in its original form), and was flame resistant. In that form, it survived three crash tests where a “bullet” vehicle hit it at speeds of 75 mph. It was also impervious to contamination, solvents, acids, oils, cutting fluids, and fuels and worked well in extreme hot and cold temperatures. In other words, it could take on a worst case aerospace environment. This new product (with improved materials and a more cost effective manufacturing method) is even more flexible and tougher. It provides “tunable” EMI protection as well as ballistics, cut, and crush resistance. My problem is that we do not know of a ready market for this and we are actively seeking a source of orders so that we can make some for commercial sale. Are you interested in this product? Thanks.
