Getting a Quote Inquiry (采购产品): Getting a Quote 5/27/08 Dear Sirs: I have drawings of a formed wire handle for a proprietary automotive dipstick that I would like to send for getting a quote. The handle is made from one nominal 36” long straight section of diamond drawn, 1/16” diameter, type 304 S. S., full temper wire. The finger loop is 1.125” I. D. and has two tangential straight sections approximately 1” long that meet to form a 60 degree angle below the finger loop. Such loop has just 1.667 winds of wire (That’s the effective wind AFTER accounting for the “spring-back”). The mandrel is a nominal 13/16” diameter. Not counting the winds as bends, the part has just two, same plane (as the winds) bends, each 30 degrees, after the spring-back. The two legs are of lengths 7.5” and 19.5”, and should be as closely parallel as possible after spring-back. The potential parts per year is 20,000,000. The first order for ‘test marketing’ will be 150 pieces, subject of course to prior approval of a nominal number of samples. The part design has been verified using “short run” parts from another manufacturer—who couldn’t get consistent quality on the bends, nor get a consistent insertion length so that the ends wouldn’t have to be ground to length. “Burrs” on the long leg are acceptable. But there can be no burrs on the short, 7.5” leg, because side-by-side legs of the wire must pass through a machined 1/8” hole in a mating brass part. The above description should allow you to visualize the formed wire handle well enough to draw the actual part. I have done that using a TURBO CADD graphics program that probably isn’t compatible with your CNC bending software. But I’ll help in any way I can. Hope you can quote these important parts!
