Sholtes, Sheet 2 When with Professional Control Corporation, my duties included Propose, design and implement Programmable Controller installations for manufacturing and food processing plants. Provided control wiring drawings, software, operating manuals and start-up supervision for installations; including manufacturing, packaging, refrigeration and process control. Attended seminars and self-trained for CAD, Programmable Controller and Man – Machine Interfaces. Supported the company sales staff and provided technical support, service and training for customers. When with Lykes Pasco, my duties included Manager of the plant utility (water, steam, ammonia refrigeration, and compressed air) operation department. Directed the activities of 40 employees consisting of shift supervisors, foremen, mechanics and utility equipment operators. Established and maintained department budgets. Prepared capital project packages with cost justification, schedule and payback. Negotiated construction and equipment purchase terms, and managed installation. When with Caulkins Indiantown Citrus Company, my duties included Served as Manager of the Plant Engineering and Maintenance (mechanical and electrical) Departments. A Project Engineer, CAD Operator, Maintenance Superintendent, and maintenance staff answered to me. Was responsible for establishing and maintaining engineering, maintenance, energy and capital project budgets. Purchased supplies and services to maintain the ongoing operation of the plant. Worked with a Plant Management team to develop a complex Energy Services Agreement Contract (To purchase and use Steam), between Caulkins Citrus and Bechtel, a company that built a 330 Megawatt Electric power generating plant next to the Citrus Plant. The engineering process included the following. 1. Define and analyze options for a plant expansion. 2. Select the most cost effective options with the best return on investment and design them. 3. Develop a site plan for construction approval. 4. Generate bid specifications and schedules for construction and equipment installation. 5. Obtain building permits and manage construction. Managed a $13 Million dollar plant expansion to double its capacity and accommodate the new source of steam. The expansion projects included reconstruction of an industrial wastewater treatment facility, new building construction, multiple water distribution systems, plant site storm water drainage, steam distribution piping, a refrigerated tank storage facility, and addition of new processing equipment. While with Florida’s Natural Growers, my duties included Project Engineer for multiple projects including: 1. Aseptic processing and storage of Not From Concentrate Orange & Grapefruit juice. 2. Citrus peel processing to manufacture cattle feed and other by-products. 3. Plant utility systems including steam, compressed air, and large scale water filtration. 4. Pasteurization systems for aseptic and hot pack canning operations. 5. Process automation using PLC’s and analog instrumentation, including detailed control software specifications. Duties included budgeting, design, schedule, purchases, construction supervision, startup, and operator training. I also developed Autocad drawings for process schematics, process & instrumentation, electric & control wiring. I directed Autocad Technicians to create construction, layout, electrical (power and control) , and piping drawings. I wrote operator procedures, bid packages, and technical specifications.
