As a member of the executive team I’ve participated in influencing & driving the advertising / marketing program the company uses currently Prior to this position, I was Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Gastineau Log Homes in Missouri. In that position, I was responsible for the entire sales and marketing program; the national dealer network of 40 dealers; and six (6) inside sales people. Prior to Gastineau Log Homes, I was with The Original Lincoln Logs Ltd, in numerous capacities. I was initially hired to fill a senior management position that did not materialize. Prior to Lincoln, I worked as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for B. K. Cypress Log Homes, Inc., a position I held for six (6) years. In that position, I was given an opportunity to apply my sales marketing, managerial, and leadership background in the log home industry. I was responsible for the day to day operation of the company, P & I accountability, strategic business and market planning sales forecasting, and personnel management. Under my leadership as Vice-President of Sales and Marketing, by developing a strategic marketing and advertising plan as well as increasing the number of dealers, sales increased 283% over a five year period. Job costs went from an unknown to targeted margins and the company became solvent and profitable. Under my leadership: ? Grew in-house sales force from two people to five people. ? Grew in-house design/drafting department from one person to five full-time people being housed in their own building. ? Grew estimating staff from one part-time person to two full-time people. ? Created and implemented a sales manual for in-house sales force. ? Created and implemented office policies and procedures together with a manual. ? Implemented SoftPlan as design program. ? Implemented ACT! As lead program. ? Implemented in-house computer network system. ? Introduced medical plan for all employees. ? Introduced an IRA program for all employees. Under my leadership and direction, the mill manufacturing operation was re-organized to become more efficient and profitable, maintaining & increasing production levels without hiring more people. Five (5) sales workshops/seminars per year were implemented at the facility for new prospects. ? Advertising and marketing programs with a budget were put into place. ? New four-color flyers and plan books were created. ? B.K.’s presence at national log home shows increased with a new, professionally designed booth. ? A professionally designed web-site was created. Under my leadership and direction a formal dealer program was created: ? Included an advertising program (Co-op) designed for builder/dealers. ? Created a bona-fide contract specifically addressing the responsibilities, expectations and accountability for B.K. and the dealers as well as protection for B.K. ? Had grown from five dealers to forty quality dealers. ? Included a cost-effective web page program for dealers with links to B.K.’s. ? Had a dealer sales and operations manual. ? Included a reward program for in-house staff and dealers for their performance. I functioned as general manager and Vice President of overall operations during may time with B.K. Cypress. Prior to my joining B. K. Cypress, I achieved success with Olympic Manufacturing as National Sales Manager when I successfully marketed the OlyLog? fastener to the log home industry nationwide. In one year, I successfully increased sales from $60,000.00 to $1.3 million. I also introduced the OlyLog? fastener to the DIY market with special packaging and displays. Simultaneously I marketed Olympics’ SIP fastener to the structural insulated panel industry.
