plastic cheese molds Inquiry (采购产品): plastic cheese molds Hi there. I am in the process of building a small farm dairy, to do artisan cheeses, and we hope to be commercially viable by the end of next year. I also work with a couple other cheesemakers, some commercial, and have friends at almost half a dozen cheese supply companies that are internet based. We are all having the same problem: EVERYTHING for cheese making is coming from Europe, and shipping basic stuff (wood, plastic, etc) overseas is EXPENSIVE, and is adding to the cost on our end, AND sending our money to another country, instead of keeping it in the US. Lately some people have begun making “Cheese Presses” in the US, and a few hobbiest sites are selling PVC made molds (NOT up to par in the sense of commercial, but ok for home use) and charging a bit better a price, but still: Why should I pay 60 dollars for a mold that could probably make it to market LOCALLY in the US for only 20. I do not know how working with your company would have to be, if I have to place a minimum order for a product for you to want to design it, but please let me know how we can pursue this idea. Just to show the range of value, my friend Marc at Brazos Valley Cheese in Elm Mott, TX, just spent $250 EACH for 3 piece hard cheese molds. It consisted of a 15 inch plastic bowl with holes, much like a pasta colander from Wal-Mart, with a “follower”, a lid that will slide down in to press the curds down to make firm cheese, and an “insert”, in this case, it was a plastic version of cheesecloth. $250 for a colander, screen, and lid. There HAS to be a way to produce these in the US for much cheaper. Thank you for any help.
