Proficient PC Skills using Microsoft Office 2003, AutoCAD 2005 EMPLOYMENT January 2007 thru June 2009 Midco International / Chicago, Illinois Fabrication Supervisor Supervising apx 30 employees in fabrication thru shear, punch, forming, spot, mig and tig welding, machine shop and tool room. Responsible for maintaining and scheduling production, establishing and maintaining efficiencies, routine machine and die maintenance and TQM. Implemented lean manufacturing techniques and involvement in cost reduction and method improvement. I was responsible for ordering and maintaining a work force for the shop through temporary agencies. Responsible for maintaining and ordering all department and shop supplies. July 2004 thru Nov 2006 Leggett & Platt / Morgan Marshall Division, Chicago Heights, Illinois Pre Production Development Manager Responsible for supervising the development of pre production prototypes and the re-design and cost improvement of existing product. I achieved this by utilizing my CAD skills and managing a R&D Model Shop with a team of model makers knowledgeable in all phases of sheet metal. I would develop a functional and cost effective prototype that would exceed our customer’s expeditions. My experience would assist our potential and existing customers in troubleshooting their product concerns. After satisfying the customer’s expeditions, the product is released to production. My team would then assist production with the designing and fabrication of checking and weld fixtures necessary for and efficient operation. Company bought Morgan Marshall Co. March 2004 thru July 2004 Diemasters Manufacturing, Elk Grove Village, Illinois Fabrication Supervisor Responsible for supervision all personal in the turret, press brake, mig tig and spot welding areas along with minimal assembly. I was also responsible for development of new part prototypes and first run production thru fabrication. I maintained and ordered all supplies including turret and press brake tooling along with welding and prototype supplies. On a daily basis I monito9red efficiencies and assigned and scheduled the work load for the departments. There was an ongoing method and cost improvement practice. ISO 9000 Inspection was done on a daily basis. I also maintained direct contact as an account representative with our clients by servicing their needs and requirements. Production Control and maintenance also reported to me. January 2004 thru March 2004 Morgan Marshall Industries, Chicago Heights, Illinois Prototype Model Maker Responsible for documenting and logging new prototype projects and assisting in the design of new products. I fabricated prototypes based on sketches and or drawings provided by designers, salesmen or customer request. Company filed bankruptcy. April 2002 thru April 2003 Focal Point LLC Chicago, Illinois Fabrication Supervisor / Technical Support Managing daily activities with a bilingual employee base in a fabrication shop atmosphere manufacturing architectural light fixtures. Responsibilities included assisting in researching and development of new lighting fixtures along with maintaining a complete press brake and Salvagnini P2 tooling inventory. I managed apx 30 employees working in the punching, forming, welding and polishing areas. Method Improvement and Cost Reduction were and ongoing process. January 1972 thru April 2002 Ready Metal Manufacturing Chicago, Illinois Senior Fabrication Lead person / Project Coordinator / Fabrication Supervisor Supervised day to day operations that would require department scheduling and work center loading. Responsible for maintaining production efficiencies, routine machine maintenance and maintaining the highest level of quality control through the use of checking fixtures, no-go gauging and statistical process control. I also evaluated every process operation for cost reduction and method improvement opportunities. My areas of concentration were 4 shears, 6 turret presses 1 laser, 12 punch presses, (coil fed, blanking, drawing and progressive tooling) and 24 press brakes. My duties also included part processing and press brake tool design as part of new part development. I worked with all ferrous and non ferrous materials from .187 thru 24 gauge material including vinyl and pre coated finishes. Tolerances were maintained to .005 on bend and hole dimensions. Several forming operation using multiple die set ups were done in a press brake for completing a part to its final configuration. I was also responsible for the press brake tooling design for new product and prototypes. I was project coordinator involved with company method improvement and cost reduction throughout the shop and was team leader in developing cellular manufacturing that would able us to provide a “Just In Time” approach with our customers. I implemented a “Quick Die Change”, SMED, approach as part of our JIT improvements. I facilitated a training class teaching press brake set up procedures and safety. EDUCATION ?
