Material certificates, traceable to each bolt, are required which are to include charpy impact energy values. The minimum average impact from a set of 3 tests shall be 40.6 Joules (30 ft-lb) with no single test value lower than 29.8 Joules (22 ft-lb). Test temperature shall be the lower of -17.8°C (0°F) or 6°C (10°F) below the lowest design service temperature. Design temperature for this project -5°C. Bolts to be forged and thread to be rolled. Head of each bolt to be marked such that it can be traced to the Material certificate. The bolts, nuts and washers are to be treated with Xylan proprietary coating. If the coating requires the threads to be modified then this is to be allowed for. We require to be advised the tightening torque figure for the appropriate bolt size for specified coating.
