Inquiry (采购产品): WELDING DISIMILAR METALS welding of carbon steel to Chrome Molly P91. I understand that although the code allows direct welding of CS (P1) to Chrome Moly P-91 (P5B group), it is recommended to use a transition piece of P-22 (P5A group). So the joint will be CS/P-22/P91. I want to find out why we need to use transition piece in between CS and P91. Is it due to preheat or PWHT requirements or any other reasons. I need specific details as to what happens if when weld is done directly CS to P91. Why it becomes necessary to weld CS to P22 to P91? Your prompt response will be appreciated. Thanks.
