polyethylene foam Inquiry (采购产品): polyethylene foam My daughter participates in 4-H events with her horse. Back in March she was running what is called the "2 barrel flag" event. The idea of the timed event is this: There are 2 hollow barrels in the arena. In each barrel is a 5 foot long pole with a flag on it. The rider runs past the first barrel and grabs the flag, takes it down to the other end of the arena and puts the flag in the 2nd barrel & grabs the other flag that was in the 2nd barrel & runs back to the first barrel & throws the flag into the first barrel. Sorry if it sounds confusing. Anyway, when my daughter threw the flag into the barrel before the finish line, she missed the barrel & the flag went into the ground, the horse jumped over it and was impaled by the flag pole into her abdomen. Within the hour, the wound became so severe that we had to have our horse put down right there at the show. Needless to say, we are all devastated. However, my daughter and I are bound and determined to find a material to use for these flag poles that is safe for both the kids and the horses. Right now everybody uses a wooden dowel 1 1/4" in diameter. It's just basically a weapon these kids are using. My heart shutters to think what would happen if a child was bucked off their horse and fell on this pole. I have been working on developing a safer flag pole since March 1st (when Allie died) and I think I've come up with an idea that will work. I've been looking for a polyethylene foam like the stuff used for those swimming noodles. My problem has been locating one in the diameter that I need. I am looking for a 1" OD foam rod. I need this foam to have a hole down the center no bigger than 1/4" in diameter. I will be encasing this foam in a couple more layers of other material. I will need each foam rod to be 4' in length, however, if you can only sell it to me on a spool of several feet, that is fine too. I can cut it myself. Me and my daughter want to mass produce these safer flag poles and sell them all over the country to be used at other 4-H events. We believe that our horse died to save others and that's our mission. We don't want another horse (or heaven forbid, a child) hurt by these flag poles. We want to make these poles as cost effective as possible, so that other 4-H clubs will buy them and use them. I have searched many many hours on the internet trying to find a manufacturer, and have been unsuccessful. Does this product sound like something you could make for us? If so, what would be our cost? If you need to discuss this with me over the phone, I would be more than happy to discuss it with you.
