My talents in these regards, in addition to my abilities as a Machinist and Tool & Die Maker would benefit any company whose present operations could benefit by the improvements in processes and production my skill-sets bring to the table. Simply put, more than anything else, I like to create. I am very good at turning ideas into tangible things, at turning concepts into reality. I've spent all of my professional life doing research and development for various companies in many industries. I would be an asset to any company looking for someone who enjoys using their heads and hands in the furtherence of the companys' objectives. EDUCATION Formally trained as a Tool and Die Maker; served an apprenticeship and awarded Journeymans' papers from Maryland in 1981. Also recieved a Certificate from the National Tooling and Machining Association for having served a longer apprenticeship in a company that awarded Federal papers. The training program consisted of 4 years schooling; the first of which was sponsored by the Society of Manufacture Engineers. The last 3 years of classes attended were taught at Catonsville Community College. Additionally attended 2 semesters at U.M.B.C. and one semester at Towson State University, taking general college courses. Recently updated skills include having taken classes in Computer Numerical Control; a course in basic C.N.C. and a course in Smart Cam. Both of these courses were taught at Catonsville Community College. Also recieved some training in supervisor development programs. EMPLOYMENT HISTORY Employment history from the least recent to the most current includes having worked for--- Thau Manufacturing Company; Served apprenticeship, designed and built tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures. Also managed projects. Dec., 1977- June, 1984. Tate Architectural Products; Designed and built tools and dies while here. Supervised a shift of Tool and Die Makers and Machinists for several years, managing many projects that usually entailed getting packages of part prints and transforming them into a completed process by designing and building all of the tooling components, doing all of the necessary heat treatments, polishing and grinding, assembly, fine tuning and setting etc. In short---- taking an idea from its' inception through all subsequent stages required to produce a fully developed process that put finished product out the door. This division of the company later became Tate Access Floors.They are located in Jessup, Maryland. June, 1984- July, 1991. Wingard and Company at Menlo Industrial Park in Baltimore, Maryland; Designed and built tools and dies, set up jobs on 4-slides, modified and repaired machines, did some work on press lines similar to transfer lines to automatically stack parts in line, set up guards and guarding procedures for in-house production. Aug., 1991- Sept., 1997. P.K.L. ( formerly Perkin Elmer, formerly E.G.&G. Pressure Science Incorporated); Some tool and die work, primarily programmed and ran C.N.C. mills and lathes. Supervised shift in Tool Room for years before takeover of shop by P.K.L. Sept., 1997- March, 2003. Adaptive Equipment Systems ( formerly an independant company, now a part of Sunrise Medical); Primarily design and build milling fixtures, program and run C.N.C. mills, do some lathe work; both C.N.C. and manual, general machine work. June, 2003- present. I can design and build tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
