Operates, maintains, and repairs fueling and lubricating oil systems, including service stations, pump rooms, pumps, piping, valves, tanks, and protective piping systems; operates equipment associated with the fueling and defueling of aircraft aboard ship and ashore; operates motor-driven fueling equipment; maintains fuel quality; handles hazardous materials and maintains environmental standards; trains, directs, and supervises fire fighting crews and fire rescue teams; follows fuel handling safety precautions. Operates damage control and fire fighting equipment; serves as a member of an aviation fuel damage control repair party; performs maintenance record keeping; uses portable inertness analyzers; aligns valves in fuel piping systems for various operations; fuels and defuels aircraft; obtains samples of aviation fuels and tests for water and solid contaminants; applies knowledge of the properties and hazards of aviation fuels; makes entries in pump room logs and records; uses maintenance record cards; operates crash fire fighting and mobile fueling and lubricating oil equipment; uses and maintains hand tools and portable power tools; completes forms; conducts inventories; uses blueprints, charts, drawings, and publications.
