Breakage of valve retainer in RAM 54 gas compressor Inquiry (采购产品): Breakage of valve retainer in RAM 54 gas compressor Dear Sir, Oil and Natural Gas Corp. Ltd has recently commissioned a Gas compressor Plant GCP-III Geleki in Geleki Oil field of Assam, India. We have installed four no gas compressors model RAM 54 with frame no 07R1204, 1209, 1214 & 1219 against supplier KPCL order no 57322/75/00/1827/GVS/27101 with Waukesha Gas Engine Model L 5774. Nomenclature at the plant of the compressors is as follows Compressors No 10 Frame No 07R1204 Compressors No 11 Frame No 07R1209 Compressors No 12 Frame No 07R1214 Compressors No 14 Frame No 07R1219 Please confirm date of manufacture of these machines. The Plant was commissioned in the month of March 2009. In the month of September one of the valve retainers of Compressor No-11, 1st stage discharge Part No Z600-118-001 was found broken vertically in two pieces. The crack on inspection does not look to be fresh, but an old one which has propagated to split the retainer. The machine has so far run only 4000 hrs approx. We removed a retainer from compressor, No 12 for comparison. It was observed that both the retainers seem to be vastly different. The material and finish/measurements seems to remarkably at variance. The one removed from Compressor No 12 seems to have superior surface finish and texture/ material than the one which has broken in compressor No 11. . An inferior quality retainer the same type that was found broken in No-11 The other one, seems to be different in shape /material and texture from No 12 A new retainer has been received from Cameron USA through supplier KPCL and the new one’s surface finish and texture/ material also seems to be inferior and similar to that of the broken one. ONGC has always viewed Cameron as a reliable supplier. We have never faced so many problems in any of your previous packages in different states of India like Gujarat, Maharashtra & Assam. Our management is taking a very serious view of the present situation and could seriously affect future orders including orders for the ongoing ARP project.
