Inquiry (采购产品): FYI To the person in charge of buying your Thomasnet.com advertising program. Do you all realize you are way over paying for your terms in Thomasnet.com especially PLASTIC BAGS or BAGS: PLASTIC. We all know the ROI on that type spend is not justified... do your home work and ask your rep for the "Custom Ranking/Advertiser Analysis Report" which will show you the POP points everyone in the heading are paying for each position. the term only brings 14,000 views per year and yet they re making over $100k in ad revenue! We are all way over spending in Thomas... I realize that for many of you this might be your only source of leads but the cost don't justify the type of spend the Thomas reps try to talk us into. For example in "BAGS: PLASTIC" 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 10th 15th 20th 25th 68 67 60 60 48 29 7 5 2 Rutan paid 68 "POP" points at $260 a point to be #1... that is a whopping $17,680, Ar-Bee paid 67 or $17,420 for # 2, and Flexo paid 60 points or $15,600 for #3. Where it gets interesting is when you see the huge separation between like #4 and # 5,... Rainbow at #4 over paid by 19 POP points or $4940!!! Look at the difference between 10th, 15th, 20th, and 25th... All still on the 1st page. IT SHOULD MAKE YOU MAD!!! I started seriously studying my Thomas program years ago and every year they try to sell me on how great they are but the numbers don't justify it! It really pisses me off that they are taking advantage of us all by allowing reps to "oversell" us more points for positions than necessary. Everyone should be one to two points away from each other based on how much money we are willing to pay for the spots but if you check their supplied reports and your google analytics, or web logs... there is now way in heck you can justify the amount of traffic they are sending us for the type money we are paying! Heck the total traffic to the Thomas plastic bag page was only 14,000 views. If you google Plastic bags... Thomas won't even show up in the organic or paid ads... yet they take in 100k plus from all us advertisers. Enough is enough we should all spend way less with Thomas and invest it in organic search. Sorry for the rant but all of you guys are great companies and have been visible in Thomas for years. I used to spend 40k plus just in the Register, and another 17k in the regional... But no more! Get smart do your due diligence and buy smarter! Figure up what you are paying in each heading and then figure the traffic or exposure and how many leads you actually got and see what your cost per lead... it might just make you realize you are spending more that it is worth... It’s a tough economy... Don’t let Thomas renew you at those crazy numbers!
