Green Industry Inquiry (采购产品): Green Industry Hello, I am writing to you on behalf of the Federal Hill House Association, a nonprofit organization located in Providence, RI. We are applying to the US Department of Labor for a federal grant under their Veterans Workforce Investment Program. Briefly stated, the goal of this program is to provide a job-training and placement programs for veterans who have been honorably discharged during the past 4 years, into jobs within the “green” industries. The grant specifically calls for training and job placements in energy efficient building, construction and retrofits industries; renewable electric power industry; the bio-fuels industry; the deconstruction and materials use industries; the energy efficiency assessment industries; and manufacturers that produce products using environmentally sustainable processes and materials. Federal Hill House and its partners have been providing job skills readiness, training and case management for veterans for the past 5 years, and has an exceptional supportive services program in place should this grant be awarded (e.g. case management, health care network referrals, a computer lab, etc.). I am writing to you in hopes that you might be willing to serve as a partner in this grant initiative. Specifically, we are seeking companies/organizations that may have job training programs in place in green industries, who may be open to hiring individuals once trained, who may be able to provide advice and/or serve on the program’s advisory board, who may be able to refer participants into green job training programs and/or placements, or may otherwise be of assistance in this regard. This is an extremely important endeavor that would not only provide potential employees with the skills necessary to increase our workforce in environmentally sustainable industries, but it will also help our state and those nearby become more environmentally friendly while helping our veterans secure training and employment in important fields upon their return from serving our country. We know that you care about our environment, and it is our sincerest hope that you may consider joining us as we seek to implement a truly unique program that would be mutually beneficial. Only 13 grant awards will be made in the nation under this program, and we hope that Rhode Island will be chosen as a site, helping us all today and in the future.
