Salary: 60-70K + 10-15% Bonus + Paid Benefits Education: 4-Year BS/BA degree Work Experience- 4+ years Category: Purchasing/Buyer- Purchasing Dept grew 25% this past year Industry Experience: Retail-Wholesale apparel Industries Stable, reputable company growing 20% per year Responsibilities: ? Purchase highly fashionable, quality, branded goods that represent an incredible value to our customers. ? Analyze history and current business in order to strategically forecast future opportunities. ? Identify, select and purchase merchandise; create final assortments designed to drive plan; Establish and maintain partnerships with vendors; perform vendor analysis, including sales analysis, turn analysis, operational analysis, implementation of rack ready and markdown analysis; negotiate effectively with vendors. ? Review weekly stock-to- sales ratios; ensure departments achieve plan sales, plan turn, plan markups and plan markdowns. ? Identify fashion trends; research fashion markets and media for dynamic new opportunities, shop competition to maintain a strategic advantage; identify and quickly react to trends, recognizing and incorporating company-wide direction and ideas as appropriate. ? Maintain knowledge of market conditions regarding price, resources and fashion as they relate to trends and key items, and react accordingly to impact sales. ? As part of the merchandising team you will work closely with other Buyers, and Management to meet Company goals and objectives. Qualifications ? Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Merchandising, Marketing, Business, or related field, and a minimum of 4 years applicable retail merchandising/buying experience ? Experience buying fashion apparel is required ? Must have strong analytical, financial, strategic and planning skills. ? Must be a go-getter, with a "can-do attitude" and a true excitement for the business. Other Qualifications ? Demonstrated ability to “think outside the box” with a proven track record of forecasting trends and growing business. ? Demonstrated success in identifying and targeting customers, and crafting assortment for customer base. ? Strong verbal, written, negotiation, decision making, project management, collaboration/relationship building and retail math skills. ? Demonstrated strong research and analytical skills; keen attention to detail and organization. ? Demonstrated flexibility and ability to successfully adapt to change in a dynamic, fast paced work environment. ? Computer skills to include proficiency in merchandising systems applications, word processing, spreadsheet and e-mail applications using Outlook ? Ability to travel 5% (i.e., for buying trips, vendor meetings, miscellaneous trade/industry events) Need someone with the following experience: ? Product selection and development ? Market research trends ? Strong negotiation and forecasting experience ? Seasonal holiday purchasing experience ? Extensive first cost import knowledge ? Advertising and promotional planning experience ? Sales monitoring and inventory management ? Troubleshooting ? Excellent verbal and written communication skills ?
