The size should be 8", 10" or 12", and the preferred throat size should be 1". The driver must be of very high quality. Key factors are: - Smooth frequency response (peaks and dips within 3dB). - Very low distortion (-40dB or better). - Very good time domain performance. The driver we are looking for will be used with a compression driver. We are also interested in compression drivers, but we consider using the driver together with a 1" TAD driver. Benefits like shorting rings, linearized BxL and shallow magnet (for better time domain integration of compression driver) will be appreciated. The TAD driver weighs 6,5kg so good strength of the assembly and basket is also important. Drivers with steel baskets will not be considered. Design issues: Our experience is that coated cones give less focus points in the response curve and time domain. It also adds nicely to the design. Further, the cone should be without dustcap. The target quantity is small. The target price is around 200-500 USD / 1500-3500RMB /pc. Irrelevant supplier response will be deleted.
