Inquiry (采购产品): Steel I-Beam I would like a 6" steel I-Beam (S-type) to reinforce the floor span in my older home. I am hoping for minimal obstructions (posts) and max span. Existing 2x8 (full-dimension, old lumber) floor joists are (=/-) 16" O.C., but presently span 16' between center beam and one of the foundation walls. They sag substantially (maybe 2") in the center, which concerns me. There are no existing footings where the new beam would go, only a thin concrete basement floor that seems only an inch thick (perhaps less!) So the new footings can be made to spec. The reason I thought steel would be good is because we need to use the basement space and I was hoping to have long spans betwee posts. Is this workable, and how much distance can I span with one centered beam (presently the 16' span.) It is possible for me to put in 2 beams, each approximately 4' in from the existing load bearings, if this would allow me substantially better spans between posts. Optimal would be a 21' span; aggreeable could be a 16' span. If feesible, how long would it take to get the beam and steel posts to support it? Thank you for your help. **** Hidden Message ***** Elizabeth McFaul 2 Maryland Avenue Towson, MD 21286 USA Company: Homeowner Phone: 410-382-4582 E-mail: aemcfaul@cavtel.net **** Hidden Message ***** aemcfaul@cavtel.net
