I would like to introduce Spray Nine Corporation, of Johnstown, NY. Spray Nine Corporation is dedicated to the development and manufacture of superior cleaning and degreasing products. Spray Nine is looking to formulate an aircraft cleaner that is safe on most or all composite surfaces. We recently entered the aviation market with AV-8 Aircraft Soap which is a biodegradable, highly concentrated microemulsion blend of surfactants and builders that is safe for painted and unpainted aircraft exteriors, aerospace ground equipment, and AGE engines. AV-8 qualifies to MIL-PRF-87937 and conforms to Boeing D6-17487 Rev. P, Douglas CSD-1, and AMS-1526B specifications. When used as directed, AV-8 will not pit, etch, corrode, stain or attack aluminum, magnesium or other aircraft alloys. AV-8 conforms to hydrogen embrittlement protocol and measures well below maximum limits for total immersion corrosion, low embrittlement cadmium plate corrosion, and hot dip galvanizing corrosion. AV-8 also has no adverse affects on painted/unpainted surfaces, acrylic/polycarbonate plastics, polysulfide sealants, and rubber and polyimide insulated wire. In light of our success with AV-8, we want to know how we should go about testing for product safety on aircraft composite surfaces. We have noticed some manufacturer’s claims that their aircraft cleaner is “suited for use on composite surfaces” or “safe for composite surfaces”. Are there any specific tests or requirements necessary in order to make this claim? Is there a specific composite surface or surfaces that we should test on? Is there a way to target composites in our testing? Are there any manufacturers specifications that we need to meet? Thank you for your kind attention to our request.
