We want to Purchase TEN Locomotives Inquiry (采购产品): We want to Purchase TEN Locomotives Dear Sir or Madam: I am Isaac L. Baggs, Global Sales Manager for International Family Products a US Based Export/Import Company with International Business Clients. We are currently inquiring into the {Bulk} purchase of the below listed items/item: We want to purchase TEN locomotives. We are a State owned company, in Brazil's southern State of Paraná. We use metric gauge, therefore US-made machines will have to be refurbished, be it either in USA or in Brazil. It is a 250 km long rail way, we mostly run soya beans to Atlantic ports for shipment, ranging 1.6 to 2.2 million metric tons per year. The railroad company needs to buy TEN special-duty used locomotives, standard gauge, about 3000hp. The company is mainly focused on EMD SD40 and GE C30-7, but is open to other offers within this range. Both new and used ones, and also "as seen" ones. I hope and wait for you quotation, as per our previous inquiry of used/new locomotives To American Embassy. As per used machines, please quote them in two options of refurbishment: "with" and "without". Company may decide to refurbish them here in Brazil, so we should offer them these two scenarios. About gauge, possibly machines will have to be refurbushed, as we in Brazil use only metric gauge, and railway beds are not as strong as US'. About weight restrictions, local regulations command maximum 22 tons per axel, but most machines are only on 20 ton/axel. Therefore, refurbishing machines to a 120 ton final weigth, would mean a VERY challenging task. Our colleague, huge CVDR (Vale) Railway, has been smart in implementing a 8 axels solution, but at a high WOW cost. Also width is a restriction, and it has to be proportionally reduced. As for it's yet simply a draft quotation enquiry, no timing can be scheduled so early. Also, you must take in mind that political injunctions will lead the power's direction. Also budget target is not aimed yet, as this is all about redrawing everything, and funds are not a problem for the State of Paraná. They will pick whatever they choose, guaranteed by National Treasury. A loan from Eximbank is already under studies, approach and contacts provided by above mentioned Mr. Isaac L. Baggs of International Family Products. Please do not hesitate to ask for whatever you may need to be briefed about. If you can supply us with the above items/item, please send us your lowest possible Jobber’s FOB price together with product brochures, catalogs and samples if available. Best Regards, Isaac L.
