Inquiry (采购产品): a four sided plastic box My husand and I have designed a product that must be made of plastic. It's very simple, basically four sides (approx 3" wide x 1.5" deep) The four corners would need to bend enough so that the "box" could flatten when not in use. To hold it flat, the bottom of the box will have two (a male and female) approx. 1.5" x 1/3" strips of plastic coming out from each of the wider sides of the bottom of the box, so that when folded, the male and female parts of the two strips on the bottom would click together for storage. I'm telling you this so you are able to gauge that it seems like a relatively simple manufacturing project. I have drawings that show it better than I can explain it in writing. But here are my questions/concerns. 1. How can I make sure a manufacturer doesn't "borrow" my idea and make it on their own? 2. I am not a professional, so while my design is good and solid, I would need a pro to make a few prototypes. Do you do this? 3. I would like this product to be made all or mostly from recycled materials. 4. I would like this product to be made in America 5. I would like this product to come in four bright colors, if possible. 6. Roughly how much would developing the prototype cost? 7. Roughly, very roughly, how much would having 50,000 of these little boxes cost? 100,000? 200,000? 8. Does a person get a patent based on drawing and description or after the prototype is made? I realize you cannot be very specific since you don't know the type of plastic needed or the thickness. I will certainly tell more when I have an understanding of how our "invention" can be kept for our use only. Thanks for giving us a general idea of what to expect. We are out of the country until late June so I will not leave a phone number at this time. -Kathi and Konrad **** Hidden Message ***** Kathi Kiley OR 97233 USA Company: Grams Family E-mail: kathikiley@gmail.com **** Hidden Message ***** kathikiley@gmail.com
