Sandwich panel info please Inquiry (采购产品): Sandwich panel info please Hello there. I’m Stefan Pociask from Fluoresco Lighting and Signs in Tucson, Arizona. I’m trying to get some information and samples of some type of sandwich panel to fit our application. I know very little about it and would need some guidance, but I was thinking that a balsa cored panel may be close to what I’m looking for. Here is the application: We are designing a hallway ceiling for a new hotel. The hallway is 10’ wide. This ceiling is a suspended type ceiling, with a variety of long decorative cut-outs in the panel. On the other side of the panel we are supplying lighting that will glow down thru these long scroll type cutouts. The key to the material I’m looking for is that it is highly rigid, and lightweight. Our first prototype is made from 1/8” thick aluminum sheet. This is not working well for us, as there is considerable “oil-canning”, sagging and other problems due to the weight and flexibility of our material. It also requires us to have a massive internal support structure and many down rods, which adds yet more to the weight. From what I’ve been reading in my research, I’m thinking that some panel that’s 2”-3” thick, clad on both sides with a very thin aluminum sheet or other rugged material, is what we need. Other than that I don’t have a clue. Balsa seemed like it would work as the core, although I know there are many types of composites available. But since maintaining a smooth surface on the cut edges of the cut-outs is also important, that’s why I thought of balsa. This is a very large project and would require us to fabricate 1000 linear feet of 10’ wide ceiling. So it would be a fair sized purchase. I need to reduce the weight and the down rods and increase the rigidity over our first prototype. If you have some product available that would fit our need, please contact me as soon as possible to discuss it.
