Technical Accomplishments: -Personally responsible for improved lamination process efficiencies. Performance metrics included 6% improvement for equipment up time, 15% increase in total throughput, (50,000 yards/month), and 11% increase in individual product rates. Reduce scrap by 50%. Was personally responsible for improving throughput performance beyond manufacturer’s specification by 9.5%, (1600 Lbs./shift increase). ? Process Engineer 2/97-7/98 Responsibilities include overall process improvement and development for a 43 line sheet and round profile extrusion plant. Extensively trained in the Danaher Business System (Just-in-Time Manufacturing); employed SMED, (Single Minute Exchange of Dies) and Kaizen operational techniques. Accomplishments: Utilizing SMED and Kaizen, architected techniques reducing extruder die changes from 8-10 hours down to 17 minutes. Process procedure and product flow alterations dramatically improved overall plant efficiency. Double H Plastics Warminster, Pa. Extrusion Division Manager 8/96 - 2/97 Responsibilities include development of time, manpower and energy savings and process improvement of a thirty-line profile extrusion plant. Headed extrusion division for a three shift, manufacturing operation. Duties involve daily production scheduling, personnel assignments, over-seeing equipment maintenance, process optimization, employee relations, research and development, as well as liaison between Engineering and Manufacturing departments. This position reports directly to the Vice President. Accomplishments: - Through detailed study of two production processes, was able to dramatically improve the efficiency of both. This resulted in a 33% improvement of set-up time, and faster on-spec product. By altering equipment requirements and changing operating procedures, running conditions were simplified. - Secured government contract for a proprietary profile design. Designed and manufactured tooling, testing and reconfiguring tooling to meet customer specifications. Welding Engineers Inc., Blue Bell, PA. (1987-1996) Lab Manager: (1/94-6/96) Responsible for operations of a twin screw extrusion laboratory. Coordinate daily operations, schedule client trials, technician work assignments, and ensure proper safety documentation and procedures are maintained. Process Engineer: (7/93-6/96) Design, development & construction coordination of complex custom plastic twin screw extrusion systems. Provide technical support for sales, manufacturing, mechanical design. Responsible for start up of production twin screw extruders, specification of screw designs and hardware, process assistance and troubleshooting of production machinery. Heavy interface with client technical people and vendors. R&D Lab Supervisor: (1987-1993) Hands-on supervision of mechanical lab operations... setups, production runs, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting & procurement. Lab Technician Setups, machine operator, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of twin screw extrusion systems for the Research and Development Laboratory. Accomplishments: - Improved laboratory efficiency by 44% by learning existing systems, restructuring procedures, purchasing new equipment and implementing new changes. Changes resulted in significantly improved client turnaround time (33% increase in response time) as well as fewer work injuries, sick day reduction and better client trials resulting in more data being collected and less downtime. -Designed a strategy and outline that resulted in maintaining and ultimately growing difficult major client’s business.
