In one of the plants, at present the start up vent line is provided with two numbers of electrically operated Alloy Steel Globe Valve. This line is open to atmosphere. Through this start up vent line, the steam is let out to atmosphere during lighting up of the Boiler and whenever emergenc occurs. When the steam is let out (at 32 mtr level, where the vent line exists) is 120 decibles, which is not in the range of allowable limit. We want to reduce this noise pollution by replacing the second valve in the start up vent line with a new type of Silencer Type Valve such that noise level (at 32 mtrs ) can be reduced to minimum audible sound is at 75 decibles. The technical specification of the existing valve is enclosed.
