Inquiry (采购产品): cathodic protection Dear Sir We have two very large capacity tanks 15000 m3 each. One will be used for storing caustic soda and the other one will be used for storing EDC. Both tanks are separately built on concrete foundation and they isolated from the concrete by a layer of asphalt (asphalt tank bottoms). To protect the tanks from corrosion we would like to use cathodic protection. Due to the nature of climate there is moisture traces surrounding the tanks and traces of water drops can be found on tanks, asphalt layer, concrete and soil. The temperature in open air reaches 45 degree Celsius. We are not sure that whether the cathodic protection is useful in presence of the asphalt layer. Is it worthy to use this method of protection (sacrificial anode)?. We think that the asphalt layer could act as a coating layer or insulation between the structure (tank) and soil and therefore adequate cathodic protection might not be obtained. We seek your advice in this regard and hope to hear from you soon. .
