design project enquiry Inquiry (采购产品): design project enquiry Dear Sirs, We are a mechanical engineering group at the University of Bath,England, carrying out a business & design project for our 3rd year assessment. It consists of designing a small footprint area, low-force materials testing machine. The main application for our machine is dynamic materials testing (e.g.: fatigue), but it will also be required to carry out static tests (yield strength, etc.). We have done a great deal of background research and brought everything down to the primary step in the design decision-making. We have concluded that the most adequate actuator type for the variable applications is electromagnetic, but have failed to find an actuator that fits our operation specification. Hence we were wondering if we could possibly ask you if under real circumstances, a company would be able to outsource the linear actuator requirements to your company? This might imply modifying an existing product and adapting it to our requirements, or developing a new one. This would be the approximate actuator spec: * Incremental force control, starting at 0 N * 250 N maximum force * At least 50mm maximum stroke (+/- 25mm) * 100~200Hz max frequency (higher frequency implying smaller stroke displacement) * Cyclic (sinusoidal) loading AND static loading possibilities * Lightweight, size not overly important (the smaller, the better) * Returns to original position when not energised (shaft doesn't fall out of cylinder in vertical orientation) The cooling, if required, we would look into ourselves. What we would thus like to ask you is whether it would be possible for the company to design and manufacture an actuator to fit our specification, and if yes, if you would be so kind as to supply us with an approximate ball-park figure for the price per unit.
