Instrument Damage Inquiry (采购产品): Instrument Damage 12/11/06 Hi Bob (Robert Housemen), Sorry to have finally gotten in touch with you after so many years with a negative correspondence. As per our telephone conversation last Thursday (12/7/06), I have contacted the vendor (Applied Biophysics, Inc) whose instrument was damage during a routine maintenance contract service by Neu-Ion. Applied Biophysics has suggested that the instrument + the laptop control computer be return to them so they can evaluate any incurred damage. We are shipping the instrument back to the company in the same box it arrived in via FedEx (I’ll pay for the shipping charges) on Wednesday (12/13/06). Given that the Christmas/New Year Holidays are fast approaching us, I’m sure we won’t hear back from Applied Biophysics until early in January 2007. The instrument is a high end piece of equipment which measures cellular impedance and relates these values to cell adhesion, growth and migration - we literally just got it in two weeks ago after waiting several months to have it build for us – that is what make the whole issue so frustrating – we had several planned experiments to run prior to the holidays and now that will have to wait. In the interim, I have discussed the problem with members of my laboratory and we all mutually agree to have the Neu-Ion equipment moved from its original position in the tissue culture facility (room 115B) to a secondary location (main laboratory room 115 - above the sink located near the back door) so a similar situation can’t possible happen again (we will pay for the relocation move). This is obviously an unfortunate accident, with no malice intent by your employees but the instrument may have to be replace depending on what the Applied Biophysics determines – I assume Neu-Ion is bonded for such incidences and insurance will cover any damages incurred. Again, sorry to finally made contact with you after some many years only to discuss instrument damage issues – to bad it could not have be under more pleasant circumstances.
