36 strainer needed Inquiry (采购产品): 36 strainer needed I am designing a pump station that will pump water from a deep seawater suction intake pipeline for use in direct air conditioning of tropical hotels. The intake pipeline will be 36” diameter DR 17 high density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe with an ID of 31.5”. The offshore end of this pipeline is in 850m (2788 ft) of water depth, and it will bring in water that is 5 deg C (41 deg F). It is not practical to install a screen over the offshore end this deep water intake, as it will not be serviceable, so I am interested in installing a large strainer or screen assembly before the pumps which will be located just back from the shoreline. The deep seawater is typically very clean, but sometimes contains large fish, manta rays, shrimp and other marine organisms. We have designed several deep water intake pipelines and strainers (in open sumps) and usually use a ?” poly mesh fabric to screen out these fish and organisms. In the current design we are trying to use horizontal split case (dry motor) pumps, so we need a closed suction strainer assembly before the pumps that will have the following features: 1. Be able to reliably strain out fish and organisms down to ?” size, 2. Be able to withstand a 6 psia continuous operational pressure and be able to withstand a full vacuum during testing and startup conditions, 3. Be fabricated from corrosion resistant materials (316 SS strainer fabric and HDPE or coated steel shell – prefer 100% solids polyurethane coating inside and simple epoxy coating outside) 4. Impose minimal differential head loss (<0.5 ft Seawater) when the strainer is clean. When the strainer is blocked by a large marine organism, it will be immediately cleaned, as this blockage will probably cause pump cavitation. 5. Be simple and fast to clean and maintain – does a suction strainer really need a full set of flange bolts to maintain its top cover seal? 6. Be as small and compact as possible. 7. There should be no pipe diameter reduction prior to the strainer – full size 36” pipe flange on the strainer inlet. 8. Discharge flange may be smaller – 16”? I like the idea of a Wye Tee Strainer because of their simplicity. I am wondering if a tee strainer could be fabricated from a 36” DR 17 HDPE Wye Tee fitting. If you are not familiar with HDPE fittings, a tee fitting can be equipped with stub end style flanges on all three ports. If the wye tee branch was laid down horizontally, then the basket could be hollow cylinder that fits into the wye port and the big fish or manta ray will end up being forced into this basket or could be easily dragged out. I think the strainer fabric made from 316 ss mesh will probably serve this application very well. I am not concerned about dirt, sand or debris smaller than ?” size getting through this strainer. We have a much finer strainer at the entrance to our heat exchangers that can take care of any small debris. This strainer’s sole purpose is to prevent larger marine organisms from getting into our pumps. Assuming a suitable unit can be designed, our client will probably be interested in purchasing two units. If possible, I would like to obtain the following in response to this email. 1. A response ASAP to let me know that this was received and that you are willing to help me. 2. If you can help, then I would like the name and contact information of an individual there at your company who I can communicate with about this request. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
