Would like to replace and improve current method of reheating the flue gas. Ideally the design would have a longer useful life, easier maintenance, maintain if not improve the current heat transfer rate and pressure drop. Currently we use an 8 plate coil bank type reheaters that are ~42x142" 12 gauge 317LSS. Retracting sootblowers above each row reheater modules are used for cleaning of the plates. These panels don't last very long before leaks start occurring. The main problem we have is on welds, whether heliarched, spot or seam welded. The problems appear to occur in the heat affected zone of the welds. We are looking into replacing existing plate coil type exchanger with alternatives such as piping but still maintain the same heat transfer rate and delta P. the function of the reheaters is to raise the flue gas temperature above the dew point temperature of the flue gas. This helps protect the ID fan & outlet ductwork from moisture condensation and corrosion. It also provides the necessary buoyancy & plume rise to the flue gas as it leaves the stack. system parameters: gas temp entering reheater - 125-130 deg F. gas temp leaving reheater - 160 deg F design steam pressure - 150 psig design steam temperature - 450 deg F steam consumption @ 150 psig - 32,400 lbs/hr pressure drop - 2 inches w.c. **** Hidden Message ***** Jason White P.O.
