Inquiry (采购产品): chemiluminescence Dear Harris Industries, I am a 9th grader who goes to Watkins Mill HS in Gaithersburg, Maryland. I take a class called Research and Experimentation (R&E) in which I have to do a chemistry project for my final grade. My topic is chemiluminescence. The problem is, does the amount of hydrogen peroxide effect the duration of time a glow stick lasts when mixed into the fluorescent dye and phenyl oxalate? By the end of our research we are to be experts on this subject. I have a few of questions that would be greatly appreciated if answered. Why does the combination of those three chemicals arouse such a reaction when there is no heat? Why isn’t chemiluminescence permanent? What causes certain glow sticks to last longer than others? Also, if you can, does the amount of hydrogen peroxide affect the duration of time a glow stick lasts when mixed into the fluorescent dye and phenyl oxalate?
