Manager Lawkim Limited COMPANY INFORMATION Lawkim Limited was set up in technical collaboration with Emersion Electric, a giant US conglomerate in early Sixties & subsequently taken over by Godrej Group in early Eighties. We are leading Manufacturer of GP/ Hermetic/ HVAC/ other fractional Horse Power Motors, supplying to leading Air conditioner, Washing Machine, Refrigerator Manufacturing industries and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). Lawkim has diversified it’s activities covering IT enable services and Quality services. Our Motor Range is from 7 Watts to 2250 Watts in single phase designs and upto 1500 Watts in three phase designs. We already have following accreditions: ISO 90001:2000, ISO14001, UL approved motors in it’s range. Lawkim was established in 1960 by two entrepreneurs Shri Jimmy Lawyer and Shri S.A. Currim for manufacture of Electric Motors. The Company set up its manufacturing facility at Thane in 1964 on a three and half acres plot of free hold land. The Company entered into a technical collaboration with Emerson Electric Company, USA a Fortune 500 Company for 10 years from 1967 to 1977. Following the recession of 1972/74, the Company's fortunes waned and by late 1976 the bankers had to stop its operations. The Company was then taken over by the Godrej family in April 1977 by acquiring 100% of the Share Capital. After streamlining operations, improving productivity and strengthening the technical base of the Company, the present management has been able to take gross turnover to Rs.80 crores per annum from Rs.1.8 crores approx. in 1977. The Company employs around 349 employees, including Workmen & Management cadre employees. In 1992, the Company set up a highly advanced motor manufacturing plant at Shindewadi (200 kms from Thane) and in 1997 a small motor manufacturing plant at Dadra in the Union territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli. In 2001 the company started compressor repair activities at Shindewadi plant. Lawkim supplies its product to the OEMs and open market. Since the market is fiercely competitive and also changes with seasonal requirements, the demand from customers is always fluctuating. In 2004 the company has shifted activities at Dadra to Shindewadi Plant for better logistics.
