To understand the history of Reeder & Kline Consulting, it is important to know the history of Reeder & Kline Machine Co., Inc. The History of Reeder & Kline Machine Co., Inc. Reeder & Kline Machine Company, Inc. was established in 1947 by John Reeder and Merle Kline, formerly of Indiana Gear Works. We started as a turning shop in support of helicopter and other aviation shafts. During the 1950’s, the demand for a skilled gun drilling source became evident. This additional requirement was the result of increased complexity and greater demand for major rotating parts. In 1952, we moved to our present location in Carmel, Indiana. In 1954, Lawrence (Larry) Sparks, Jr., purchased Merle Kline's portion of the business. In 1978, Mr. Sparks, purchased the remainder of the business from John Reeder and it remains a family owned business to this day. As the applications for these exotic materials has changed, so has the machining requirements. Reeder & Kline has been, and remains, committed to the addition of all types of equipment in support of the total manufacturing cycle. We are no longer limited to deep hole drilling or turning operations. Many applications require a concentration of holes in a confined space, plus blind and through holes in servo mechanisms, and similar applications. In keeping with our policy of meeting the challenge of complex programs, we have broadened our base to include a talent for producing nuclear hardware components, non-contaminative handling of sensitive materials, manufacture of gears and splines, machining of complex housings, and grinding of both inside and outside diameters. With the acceptance of our responsibility came the added quality requirements of an aerospace manufacturer. Reeder & Kline has a total quality system that has been accepted by the major aerospace producers, nuclear producers and the United States Government. Our quality system assures total compliance with blueprint, customer specifications, and with absolute record retention to meet your specific requirements. Over the history of Reeder & Kline, we have maintained a commitment to our customers and ourselves of pride and performance. Much of this is a result of being a privately held company. This has allowed a flexibility to respond to the needs of our customers without the constraints imposed by large or public corporations. Simply put, we take our jobs personally because to us it is personal. The ability to look beyond tomorrow has enabled us to grow from a small ten thousand square foot facility to over one hundred and ten thousand square feet of floor space on five acres. This growth has been closely controlled to ensure the continued equitable support of all customers. Our credentials list many customers spanning applications of aerospace, nuclear hardware, steam and gas turbine generation, plastic and die casting equipment, and many others. Our machined parts are at sea in nuclear reactors, flying commercially and in every major defense program including fixed wing, rotary wing and space. As our brochure says, "Take a look at our product, our people, our capabilities and our commitment to excellence." We believe you will find us willing and able to support your needs now and in the future. The History of Reeder & Kline Consulting. In late 2006, the owner and stock holders of Reeder & Kline Machine Co., Inc. decided to close the machining operation. This decision was based on a number of reasons. Some of these reasons include our geographical area. We are located in down town Carmel, Indiana. The city is experiencing major growth and renovation. Our facility did not fit into the renovation requirements. Another reason was the size or the facility. Reeder & Kline Machine Co., Inc. sat on five acres and consisted of seven buildings. After doing a cost analysis to move a company of that size it was determined unfeasible. Another reason was the impact to our customer’s schedules. It was determined that the amount of time it would require to move the facility would cripple the production commitments of our customers to deliver their product. This would have such a negative impact between customer and supplier the Reeder & Kline Machine Co., Inc. would not recover. Because Reeder & Kline Machine Co., Inc. was completely debt free on property and machines, it was determined that the most profitable solutions were to liquidate all assets. That is the direction the owners and the stock holders took. After informing our customers of this decision and fulfilling all of the contractual obligations to those customers, we began to receive requests for help from our customers as well as other manufacturers. Our customers could not find qualified and certified facilities that have the experience in such exotic metals and tight tolerances to continue manufacturing their products. Other manufacturers wanted us to share our expertise in engineering, manufacturing, quality, process control and establishing and maintaining ISO and AS certification. Because of the amount of requests in these areas, it was decided to retain the people responsible for those disciplines and offer their expertise to other manufactures. Services available Reeder & Kline is now utilizing its vast experience in precision manufacturing and applying it to assist others in the following consultation services: Quality Systems Engineering Design Quality Plans Engineering Drawings ISO 9000 Procedures Engineering Processes AS 9100 Procedures Process Control Analysis Inspection Methods Mfg Engineering Support Calibration Systems Tooling Design Gage Design Mfg Troubleshooting Take advantage of the years of knowledge and expertise that comes from a name you can trust in manufacturing, engineering and quality. **** Hidden Message ***** Dan Slinker 46032 USA Company: Reeder & Kline E-mail: dan@reederkline.com **** Hidden Message ***** dan@reederkline.com |
