Aluminum Part Inquiry Inquiry (采购产品): Aluminum Part Inquiry Greetings, I'm Charles Plubell, a member of the USC Rocket Propulsion Lab; we're a student project group that is working on making an all composite, supersonic, rocket with an experimental rocket motor that we hope will eventually fly to 70,000 ft. We need to get a plug for the carbon fiber mold of the nosecone, and in order to do that we need a CNC lathe that can turn a 6.5 inch diameter by 37 inch long piece of aluminum stock. We will supply the material (6061-T6 aluminum) rough cut to the right dimensions. We also have computer models of the part to be machined and can export these files in many formats (SolidWorks, IGES, some others). If you like, we can develop our own CNC tool paths. Can your shop produce this sort of part? We need as bright a finish on the part as possible (N6 or N5) because we are curing epoxy parts on this surface and it must be very shiny to release properly. Again, this is a very unique rocket with modern composite technology in its design. Being a student group, we naturally do not have enormous financial backings, and any donations or discounts to producing this part would be greatly appreciated. If you want to help, we would be happy to put your company's logo on our rocket when it is finally flown around Thanksgiving of this year, and articles about our rocket published in professional manufacturing journals will mention your support and include pictures of the rocket with your logo on it. I hope we can negotiate a quote. Please feel free to contact me; if not, I will be calling soon.
