Establish and implement policies and procedures with regard to inventory turns, supplier development, procurement, materials, supplier quality, and manufacturing. Axsys Technologies/Motion Control Division, San Diego, CA Director of Materials (1997 – 1998) Developed and instituted purchasing and materials procedures that resulted in reduced cost and quality enhancement of purchased material. Established a cost savings program that resulted in approximate annual savings of $300,000. Established and developed the first international source of supply that resulted in an extremely significant cost reduction and on-call availability of specific purchased material. Gill Industries, Inc., Grand Rapids, MI Director of Purchasing (1995 – 1997) Developed and instituted purchasing and quality procedures that resulted in the enhancement of the quality of purchased material and further precluded delays in shipment of finished product. Developed a QS approved quality survey and conducted supplier quality audits to facilitate the establishment of a supplier certification program. This activity resulted in dock to stock or dock to point of use inventory thus eliminating the need to inspect purchased material. Developed and instituted a quantitative supplier rating system that resulted in the consolidation and reduction of the supplier base and enhanced the ability to determine supplier performance from a fact based data driven perspective. Developed policies and procedures that resulted in the establishment of strategic alliances that further resulted in significant inventory reduction, JIT, and increased inventory turns. Established the first international source of supply that resulted in bottom line cost savings of $1.5M annually. Developed and instituted annual cost saving strategies that contributed $1.2M from October 1995 to 1997. The foregoing cost savings is not inclusive of $1.5M bottom line contribution that commenced in late 1997.
