This design permits the bolt to be simply pushed into a standard nut or blind thread (such as an engine block) and tightened to the desired torque. It may also be disconnected rapidly, or unscrewed just like a conventional bolt. The benefit of this design is in situations where bolting connections must be made quickly ranging from aerospace to automotive to the construction industry.
