This IP Auction is in conjunction with the 2007 Taipei International Invention & Technomart Show, a trade show organized by the Taiwan Technology Marketplace Service Center (TWTM). ITRI, established in Taiwan in 1973, is a non-profit, non-government organization, which focuses on advanced research & development in applied science. With over 6,000 employees, ITRI provides technical services to various industries in Taiwan, serving over 25,000 companies each year. Over the past thirty years, ITRI has earned its reputation as a technology leader and distinguished contributor to Taiwan’s flourishing industrial sector. Two of ITRI’s emerging strengths in intellectual property management are its ability to assess a patent’s marketability and matching international patent owners with local buyers. Taiwan has become a prime Asian Sourcing Center due to its strategic location, high competitiveness in marketing and diverse overseas investment in South East Asia, China, and other regions. Moreover, Taiwan plays a leading role in the semiconductor, computer peripherals, communications and optoelectronic industries. Our global presence in wafer manufacturing and IC design are 67% and 22%, respectively. Taiwan’s flat panel display production value in 2006, is estimated to total 30 billion USD, which represents 30% globally. Taiwan’s world market share in wireless LAN is as high as 95%. In an age of Knowledge Economy, intangible assets are the core business of enterprises. Intellectual property is the key element for enterprises competing in international markets. Intellectual property not only generates profits by providing services, but it can also be an independent merchandise or asset for businesses. Many companies have an inventory of unused patents from shelved projects that no longer fit the company’s business strategy. With no prospect of generating future revenue, such patents can be burdensome and costly for the company to maintain. However, an organization’s non-productive patents may be very valuable to another company. By transferring such patents to those who will benefit from it, the transferring company can recover part or all of its original investment costs and cease paying non-recoverable maintenance fees. Thermal Management, Improve External Quantum Efficiency, UV LED and backlight on Light Emitting Diode. 5. Audio/Video related technologies, such as HD-DVD/blue-ray, DVD-player, DVD-recorder, MPEG, video streaming, coding, still image coding and video/audio decoding/encoding. We also welcome technologies on Fiber Optics, Household Electronic Appliances, Pharmaceuticals and Healthcare, Biomedical Technology, Materials & Chemical Engineering, Environmental Protection, Machinery, Security & Safety Equipment, Agriculture, Food, Packing Material & Devices, Transportation, Communications, Textiles, Construction Techniques, etc. The 2007 Taipei International Invention & Technomart Show will take place in Taipei, Taiwan, in September. This premiere trade show is organized by the Taiwan Technology Marketplace Service Center (TWTM, http://www.twtm.com.tw/). TWTM is Taiwan’s foremost non-profit technology trading platform, together with the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).
