Inquiry (采购产品): Tantalum and or Rhenium tubing Hi, I am interested in Tantalum and/or Rhenium tube of the following dimensions: 0.032 Inches OD (0.029 Inches ID) and ideally cut in individual lengths of about 0.04-0.05 Inches. This is for applications within a geochronology laboratory: we use the tubes to pack in single mineral grains (120-500 micron sized grains) which are then heated with a laser. For packing purposes the tube should be annealed and as soft as possible. After laser heating the mineral grain is extracted from the little tube by acid dissolution and the solution is analyzed by ICP-MS for U and Th concentration. Normally we use Platinum for this purpose, but with some of our applications (specific minerals) we cannot use Pt as some of it gets dissolved in the acid dissolution process and then can form interferences on our U and Th analyses, so we are looking for a different solution. Niobium would be our first choice (dissolves too, but no associated interferences), but it would appear to be very difficult to get Nb tubing in this size range (we have only worked with foil so far which at the sizes we are talking about is a big hassle), so we are looking to see if Tantalum and or Rhenium would be suitable for this process (figure out if any interferences are associated with any dissolved Ta). If you have the ability to manufacture these kind of tubes from Niobium I would like to know, otherwise I would like to find out from you if you can make Ta or Re of the approximate dimension mentioned above. Initially we would be looking to maybe purchase several dozen of the tubes for testing purposes, if using Ta or Re works as well as Nb we would eventually be looking to order say between 2500-5000 of the little tubes at a time (depending on cost and our usage) once or twice a year, but I know that several other researchers at different universities within and without the US would be interested in buying these kind of tubes. Hope to hear from you soon!
