Fire Pump Packages Congrats on your success at PSEG on selling the "pump in a house" to this utility. As we discussed, we have had success promoting "reliability" in these type packages. We did this with great success in Best Equipment's territory. This allowed us to establish some value added with our equipment and made the competition raise their prices and also embarassed them when they either could not answer the questions or took too long to do so. The PSEG project manager informed us, the reason that they placed the above orders with us, was that we had the answers while our competition always had to get back with them, and did not seem to have the technical aspects pinned down Your suggestion to have a :"lunch and learn" with Foster Wheeler is a good one, since when I travel in North America and visit the big engineering firms, the engineering manager always welcomes lunch and learns on Vertical Turbines and Fire Pump Packages since they do not do these that often. This has been a good door opener, even with companies, that Peerless has no prior relationship and also when our Busines Partner does not have a good working relationship. You need to work thru Tom Miller and Bob Langton to request that Steve Schloemer make the trip to your region. As you have proved, you can easily book $500K to $1M in Fire Pump Packages. Anheuser Busch This plant may be an opportunity to your company. I have success with AB when we implement the following: 1. Reliability program- using 3 year warranty and failure analysis approach 2. Stores- simplification- taking their total inventory and reducing it to 8-10 back pull out assemblies less impellers. What I have done in the past is to crate these units for long term storage and also to be the vehicle for them to return the old parts back for rebuild. A rebuild & exchange program would be built into this approach ( note a mid size plant has +/- 300 pumps in the class of 8196, 8175, AE styles ) 3. Training- I have had experience in setting up training programs for their maintenance, engineering, operation personnel 4. Energy savings- there are beer companies that have applied to the DOE for energy assessments. I am a certified DOE instructor. There is at least 28% - 45% savings in energy in the existing pumping systems. Which may translate into +/- $500K in annual savings Best regards, Pete Peter J.
