Forward to R&D

Inquiry (采购产品): Forward to R&D Please, forward this message to the person in charge of your Research & Development Department, or to any other pertinent person in charge within your company. Thank you. October 2006 Subject: Converting combustion engine cars into hydrogen powered cars To: Research & Development Department Following is a short description of a simple technology that may be the answer to our petroleum dependency as well as a way to eliminate pollution produced by motorised vehicles. This technology would require small modification of cars as we know them, and would place any company interested in developing it in a very advantageous position on the promising market of non polluting cars. Please read this short account and put some of your specialists on the task of testing its potential, there is an emergency on this planet. Here it is: So far, everything that came out concerning hydrogen application in cars results in a version of an electric car (sophisticated fuel cell batteries running on compressed hydrogen), involving setting up a network of “hydrogen refuelling stations”. Why not suggest to the people who are researching this field to consider the possibility of a car containing its own hydrogen production mini-plant and using the produced hydrogen as the engine fuel? The raw material would be water. Hydrogen would be produced by cracking the water molecule with a small laser instead of electrolysis (traditionally used in hydrogen plants and known to be too costly in electrical energy to be effective in car applications). Laser can cut 3'' thick steel sheets... it sure can crack a water molecule! This procedure would be adaptable to combustion engines, with minor modifications to receive the laser mini-gun, the shooting chamber and the required water conducts. The alternator could provide the electrical need to activate the laser. The gas tank can hold the water. An added catalyst would prevent the oxygen from polymerising after cracking, (i.e. returning to water by bonding with produced H2), allowing the H2 to be on its way, on its own pressure, to the manifold, then produce the explosion, and the propulsion! I already designed the mini laser gun. Of course, it’s only on paper; I don’t have the means to set up a test bench for trials. Many aspects would require testing: Water molecule separation temperature, ideal catalyst, insulation in cold weather, etc. I believe that specialists from your R & D department can easily establish a research program to put this idea to the test and verify its feasibility. Laser technology for that application is promising, but other avenues can be researched too (ex. : electrolysis mini process). What's important is to generate the energy that will crack water and produce, in each car, enough hydrogen to run it. A well known science professor, with an open door at NASA, Mr Hubert Reeves, stated that “Hydrogen is the only answer” and nothing else will save humanity from the oil carbon poisoning the atmosphere and causing the climate warm up. Also, hydrogen would wash off the atmosphere simply by not producing carbon. Personally, I truly believe that laser technology is the mean by which we will connect the dots and make possible a non polluting vehicle powered by hydrogen. It may be the answer to Kyoto’s protocol biggest problem: reducing or eliminating pollution without compromising the economy. My past experience is on oil and chemical process: cracking, polymerisation, start up and trouble shooting in oil refineries. I have been dreaming about getting hydrogen by separating water molecule (MINI process) for the last 20 years. I am 77 years old and still capable of being a consultant for this kind of necessary research. But my interest is to see this idea being tested and, hopefully, implemented. The appreciation from our children will be my royalties. Let’s get cracking, we are close to midnight.
