Inquiry (采购产品): Lathe spindle taper My lathe is equiped with a No.1 Morse taper drilled into the centre. Is it possible to use a No.2 Morse taper reamer to convert to the larger No.2 taper size? The spindle has enough room to do that, it is 1 1/4" diameter. The local machine shop has turned down the job due to lack of expertise. The No.1 Morse taper is 12.065 mm at its largest diameter, the No. 2 is 17.78 mm at its largest. Is this the sort of thing done with a reamer, or should I try to find a machine shop to do it.
