Inquiry (采购产品): Longevity & Integrity Testing for Steel Pipe Gentlemen I am working on a project to determine the remaining useful life of about 4,000 LF of an existing steel pipe line installed at P&W in East Hartford, CT in 1971 as a force main for dilute oil derived from their various manufacturing operations and test cells. The as-built drawings indicate that the pipeline is "a 6-inch diameter, sch 40 steel per ASTM A-120, Grade B. Outside diameter of 6.625 with a wall thickness of 0.280 inches with butt-welded joints and a 60 mil exterior coating of X-Tru-Coat hdpe with 2% yellow pigment. Joints wrapped with X-Tru-Tape by Pipeline Services Company of Franklin Park, Ill.". Can you provide a conservative estimate of its remaining useful life and tell me what is the best method to use to determine its current integrity (e.g., pressure testing, volumetric testing, ultrasonic testing, etc.). I have received quotes from two testing companies that have offered to perform non-destructive UT tests at a few locations such as at pipe bends. Can you recommend any other testing that would provide a reasonably accurate assessment of the pipeline? Keep in mind that this is an 'active' line and any interference with the flow would require a 'shut-down' of the manufacturing operations which is not recommended due to its 24/7 operation.
