Inquiry (采购产品): Adhesives Gents: My name is Rick Abarca with AGA Manufacturing . I’m an Engineer working currently in the manufacture and assembly of mask systems for the Paint Ball Industry in our Mexico facility in the city of Tijuana. I’m interested in finding an alternative glue for the adhesive bonding of our mask frame ( Polyurethane goggle) to the soft spongy material ( Urethane also) that contacts the user’s face, which we simply call foam. Think of a ski mask. The main problem we have with our current adhesive is that it does not provide enough time for the operator to apply sufficient glue to all surfaces that will receive the foam before it jells to the point where the parts will not properly adhere. Simply put it dries too fast. This causes a continuous rework / touch-up of almost every single goggle in order to conform to the assembly specification. At the same time we can’t have an adhesive take hours to dry since there is a great possibility of almost immediate use in the production line. It is important to note here that the ambient in which the operations is done is a non air conditioned area which is subjected to several fans blowing air for operator comfort. The characteristics of the assembly process as currently performed is for the operator to apply the glue with his finger or a small brush in aprox 15 seconds. During this time the glue must remain sufficiently liquid to properly contact the foam that will be applied on it and sufficiently thick for the glue not to run and stay on the surface of application. The glued part will travel for aprox 4 minutes in the assembly carrousel prior to being removed and set aside for further drying ( 10 to 15 additional minutes). After this the part will be inspected by gently doing pull tests all around the outer and inner edges to make sure of proper bonding. At this time we are using IPS Weld-On 1910 and 1909 “ for joining flexible vinyl leather and canvas “ as stated on the product’s label. Our average usage is aprox. 48 gallons a month. The product must dry clear and be non-allergenic and fumes must be non-toxic and obviously price is sensitive in order to remain competitive.
