Invention Inquiry (采购产品): Invention Tommy W. Baker 7604 Stoneywood Drive, Austin, Texas 78731 (512) 289-0102 cell/ (512) 342-2526 home/email: tommy_baker2003@yahoo.com November 5, 2004 Dear Sir or Madam: I, along with graduate mechanical engineering students at the University of Texas, Austin, have designed, developed and filed a Patent Pending for the first “Vehicle Retractable Plow Blade”. It is installed on the front of a highway maintenance pickup/police vehicle so that when road debris is spotted, the worker/driver engages the vehicle emergency flashers, slows to a speed of 10-15 mph, activates a toggle switch on the driver’s dashboard to activate, lower the blade, extend the blade flaps and engage the debris while steering the vehicle/debris from the roadway to the shoulder of the road for safe pickup. This process allows for the safe, efficient removal of dangerous road debris and replaces the current procedure of requiring an officer/employee to dash into the roadway and physically pickup debris and dash back to the shoulder of the road while waving down traffic. The inability to quickly remove road debris results in deadly reactions such as motorists swerving, switching lanes abruptly or hitting the debris with their vehicle. The plow blade, when fully retracted, is at a slight angle from upper, left front to lower, right front and covers a distance from the outside left front tire to the outside right front tire and is capable of withstanding up to 250 pounds of debris weight. After use, the driver engages the dashboard toggle switch which retracts the blade into the resting position (12”x 32”x 10”); permitting full use of the vehicle. I have been contacted by the highway maintenance divisions of the states of Oregon, Mississippi and Florida for demonstration models to mount on highway maintenance vehicles for testing. I believe there is a market for this equipment with city, county, state highway maintenance vehicles, possibility with city, county, state and federal law enforcement cruisers and possibility the U.S. military. A Mississippi state highway maintenance engineer has requested several test units and if all goes well will buy a small quantity of units. I believe this request is an indication of buyer/user interest from the highway maintenance market. At this point I have plans, cad drawings and a parts list so I am actively seeking a licensing agreement relationship with a manufacturer, marketer and distributor servicing the U.S. and optimally foreign countries with current staff engaged in business with the listed potential users of this product. If your company or a referred company is interested in discussing this opportunity further, please contact me at your earliest convenience. Best Business Regards, Tommy W.
