Inquiry (采购产品): elimination of hex chromate Hello My name is Bob VanFossen and I am a product engineer for the Ideal Division of Tomkins Company. Our product is the common worm-gear type hose clamp and other custom clamps for the aftermarket and automotive industry. Most of the components used are stainless steel but there are some screws, housings and springs that are plated steel. We are in the process of changing over all of our hexavalent-plated parts to trivalent equivalents. PS-168 (attached) is our spec for plating with zinc yellow dichromate which we must replace. The white products of corrosion resistance is 72 hrs min. PS-170-B is our current spec for trivalent corrosion resistance up to 120 hrs (WPC); equivalent to GMW3044 8K240/120 T or G. I need to know how you could comply to these specs in the most cost-effective manner. Assume annual usage of 250,000 pcs or more for each component which would consist of t-bolts (1/4-28 x 3.5”) and nuts; also some other small associated stamped parts (trunnions) and coil springs. Please advise me on the sealers, colorants, and torque/tension control additives that would be compliant that you are currently using. Also, let me know what you do to avoid hydrogen embrittlement.
