Query re use of goosenecks in furniture products Inquiry (采购产品): Query re use of goosenecks in furniture products Dear Sir/Madam, I'm part of a team developing a range of innovative products for the residential furniture sector, essentially slim-line reclining chairs. We're exploring innovative options for attaching headrests to chairs so as provide a large range of movement in multiple directions (up-down, forward-backward, tilt), and are considering ways in which flexible metal (such as your gooseneck products) could provide a simple and versatile solution. We have two key concepts in mind, as to how your products could be utilised: - one option is to use twin flexible gooseneck rods to join the back of the chair to the headrest. If we went with this option, we'd like the rods to be such that they can be extended/retracted length wise, with the rods retracting into some sort of tube when less height (i.e. less rod length) is required. I guess this is like the extending rods in a car headrest mount, but utilising gooseneck rod in place of rigid rod. We'd need to explore a rod/tube arrangement which allowed such a movement. - a second option is to utilise twin gooseneck rods (or ribbon shaped goosenecks, rather than rod shaped?) to act as the edges of a flexible sheet, with some sort of cross-bracing every few inches between the two rods, so that most flexing only occurs in one plane/dimension. This base would then have foam and uphosltery added, to give an effective flexible section of chair that could be peeled off the rest of the chair and bent into a position to suit the user. We'd be keen to hear your (and your tech department's) thoughts on the viability of the above two mechanisms, and what might be involved in their development. Also, if you can provide any more information about the structure of goosenecks or their manufacture, we'd like to learn more about the materials used and how they can be applied.
