materials used to manufacture tennis balls Inquiry (采购产品): materials used to manufacture tennis balls The Allergy Clinical Immunology Department Phone: 574 237-9217 211 North Eddy Street, South Bend, Indiana 46617 FAX: 574-239-1451 Robert W. Clausen, M.D., FACP James B. Harris, III, M.D. P. Edmund Pendleton, MSN, CFNP Sunday, February 19, 2006 To whom it may concern: I am writing to you asking your help regarding an ongoing problem that has plagued a woman who enjoy the game of tennis. She is not in professional status, but plays frequently at Tennis and Racquets Clubs. The individual is 51 and has identified significantly itchy shin when she is in contact with the ‘dust’ where tennis balls are found. I have thoroughly attempted to identify the components that make up a Tennis Ball (core ball, covering, clues, color, and what ever else I can think of. My search to date has been futile. It appears to be one where histamine is released and urticaria develops. Diphenhydramine (Benedryl) does bring relief (and sedation!). I am writing to ask whether what are the materials that are used to manufacture and market tennis balls. Knowing this, I would also enquire as to whether there have been other reports of what appears to be urticarial lesions with exposure to tennis balls? I appreciate that this is a bit of an unusual request. But my best efforts with WEB searches have born little fruit. In advance of hearing from you, thank you very much for your kind attention to detail. Yours sincerely, Robert W. Clausen, M.D. Robert W.
