Each vane has an aluminum skin which needs to be inspected by an FAA approved entity using fluorescent penetrant inspection according to P&W Standard Practice (Engine Manual SPOP-62), then shot peened to relieve surface stresses (P&W Surface Treatment SPOP-500) and finally receive an anodization coating.
