I am a senior attorney for the Attorney General’s office of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. We are in the Western Pacific, near Guam and the Philippines. We are part of the US and are, effectively, a small town, with a population of about 60,000. The Government owns the hospital, CHC, and a CHC-run health clinic on two nearby, smaller islands. The administrator called a Guam company (about a half hour away by air) and got a quote on an autoclave system and installation. My job is to review the contract. Normally we do NOT sole source, particularly for such standard equipment. Frequently we buy equipment from the Mainland. I am thinking that I need to reject the contract and require the health center to put this equipment out to bid. But I have no sense of the cost of a small autoclave system. Without asking you to go through a formal bid process, I wonder if I can’t get a ball park quote from you for the following specified equipment. And, having read your website, I recognize that the following make and model may not be the best for these folks. But I need to test reality here. So here is what they think they need at the Rota Health Center. Shipping time: 8-10 weeks 5. Prices are delivered, incl taxes and shipping, at site of installation on Rota 6. Vendor will upack and install 7. Training of 1 RHC employee at vendor’s Guam site for one week, incl transport, room and board 8. 1-year warranty, mostly by telephone 9.
